Fans Are Divided After Lola Bunny Gets A New Look For 'Space Jam: A New Legacy'

The character Lola Bunny within the upcoming Warner Bros live-action-animation-crossover sequel Space Jam: A New Legacy,simply were given a utterly new look.

In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, director Malcolm D. Lee defined that he learned that Lola used to be “very sexualized” in 1996’s Space Jam. She had more of a curvy figure, and all the time wore small shorts with a sports activities cropped top.

Now, she has more of a quick, frivolously proportioned figure, and wears a saggy jersey with athletic shorts, nearer to what female basketball avid gamers actually put on. Lee’s main goal used to be to create a more suitable version of the bunny in the new sequel.

"Lola was not politically correct....this is a kids' movie, why is she in a crop top? It just felt unnecessary, but at the same time there's a long history of that in cartoons," Lee stated. "This is 2021. It's important to reflect the authenticity of strong, capable female characters.”

“So we reworked a lot of things, not only her look, like making sure she had an appropriate length on her shorts and was feminine without being objectified, but gave her a real voice,” he added. “For us, it was, let's ground her athletic prowess, her leadership skills, and make her as full a character as the others."

Lee’s redesign has been extensively seemed a step in the correct route, within the eyes of oldsters and maximum fans, particularly ladies. However, some people on Twitter didn’t think disagreed with the decision. Many fans of the original Space Jam film have been disenchanted by means of the new personality design.
